Basic Account and Special Basic Account

In accordance with the Act on the Comparability of Fees Related to Payment Accounts, Payment Account Switching and Access to Basic Accounts, clients who have registered residence in the European Union as well as clients who have not been granted a residence permit, and who do not hold a payment account, can open a Current Account for which the Basic Account and the Special Basic Account packages are contracted.

Basic Account

The BASIC ACCOUNT Package includes the following services:

  • services of account opening, managing and closing,
  • services that allow depositing of cash to the account,
  • services that allow withdrawal of cash from the account at branch teller’s counters or at ATMs in Croatia and abroad,
  • services of executing the following payment transactions: direct debits and/or standing orders, debit card payment transactions including payments on the internet, including payments at branch teller’s counters and through internet banking channels.

The Bank opens only one account with the contracted Basic Account package, without the possibility to use another current account alongside this one. Monetary funds in the account for which the Basic Account package is contracted are kept as a vista assets, solely in the euro, and the Bank grants no overdraft in the account. 

Use of the BASIC ACCOUNT package is free of charge and it covers:

  • current account management
  • issuing of the account holder’s debit card
  • entry fee and use of the Internet Banking/Mobile Banking

The Bank computes and charges other fees in keeping with the PI Business Fees, which are available also at the Bank’s branches.

Special Basic Account

The SPECIAL BASIC ACCOUNT Package includes the following services:

  • services of account opening, managing and closing,
  • services that allow depositing of cash to the account,
  • services that allow withdrawal of cash from the account at branch teller’s counters or at ATMs in Croatia and abroad
  • services of executing the following payment transactions:  direct debits and/or standing orders, debit card payment transactions including payments on the internet, including payments at branch teller’s counters and through internet banking channels.

he SPECIAL BASIC ACCOUNT package is contracted for the term stated in the supporting evidence documentation, or until the end validity date of the social category status, but not less than 1 year. The Bank will allow use of the Special Basic Account package to the client until the date by which, in accordance with the decision of the competent authority, their social welfare right is recognised, and at least for the term of 1 year. If, after the expiry date of such decision, the client does not present proof in the form of a corresponding evidence document that they still belong to the socially vulnerable category, the Special Basic Account package will be terminated and the Basic Account package will be contracted automatically.

The Bank does not charge a monthly fee for the Special Basic Account package use. The package includes the following services:

  • current account management
  • issuing of the account holder’s debit card
  • entry fee and use of online banking (Internet Banking and Mobile Banking) 
  • 10 national and internacional payment transactions in euro per month free of charge (the 10 free transactions cover national and international credit transfers in the euro placed at the Bank’s branches or through online banking as well as standing orders and direct debits).

How to Open the Special Basic Account?

The Package is intended for clients classified as socially vulnerable, or holders of rights pursuant to the social welfare act:

  • guaranteed minimum allowance
  • personal allowance for an accommodation beneficiary 
  • scholarship during regular university study
  • personal disability allowance
  • assistance and care supplement, and
  • jobseeker's allowance. 

Opening the SPECIAL BASIC ACCOUNT package requires that the corresponding decision of the competent authority (e.g. Decision of the Social Services Department, County State Administration Office, etc.) is submitted. The client can hold only one account with the Special Basic Account package contracted, without the possibility to open and hold another current account alongside this one. Monetary funds in the account for which the Special Basic Account package is contracted are kept as a vista assets, solely in the kuna, and the Bank grants no overdraft in the account.

In order to exercise the right to open a payment account with basic services, according to the Act on the Comparability of Fees Related to Payment Accounts, Payment Account Switching and Access to Basic Accounts, you need to be a resident of the Republic of Croatia, a resident and a non-resident with legal residence in the European Union or in the process of obtaining a residence permit and without an open account for payment.

You can contract a Basic and Special basic account at the nearest RBA office.

When opening an account at the branch office, your account will be opened immediately and you will receive all the necessary documentation from our employee.

We send the debit card and PIN to your home address in separate shipments, and you will receive them within 7 to 10 days max.

You can check your account balance at any RBA and Euronet ATM, in the nearest branch office or via mojaRBA mobile and internet banking.

With Basic and Special accounts with basic services, overdraft agreements are not allowed.
