New CNB recommendation to banks (HRK and rates neutral)

Based on the precautionary principle, the regulator has recommended to banks the usage of unified approach in process of evaluation of loans and advances to Agrokor Group and other commercially dependent companies.
In the environment of high uncertainty regarding the final result of restructuring process in Agrokor the regulator of local banking sector (CNB) has assumed that the market value of company assets would very probably not be sufficient for settlement of all debts. Based on the precautionary principle, the regulator has recommended to banks the usage of unified approach in process of evaluation of loans and advances to Agrokor Group and other commercially dependent companies. In the semi-annual report the banks have to form provisions on the level of 50% for unsecured credits to Agrokor and dependent companies. For the first quarter the same approach in provisioning was already applied by the largest creditor on local market as well as on international market (Sberbank). At the first quarter approximately EUR 100 mn of provisions for credits in Agrokor has decreased the result of local banking sector. By spreading the unique provisioning rules to all local banks and connected factoring companies, the formation of additional EUR 300 to 400 mn provisions is expected in Q2. Consequently, the semi-annual results for the Croatian banking sector could fall in negative territory.
