Raiffeisen Bank International AG (RBI) has been named "Bank of the Year in Central and Eastern Europe" by The Banker for the eleventh time. The renowned magazine of the Financial Times presented RBI CFO Martin Grüll the awards at a gala ceremony in London on 29 November.

“The newly restructured, streamlined RBI says that its core task is the customer. A measure of success in addressing that task is being named Bank of the Year for 2018 in four countries of the [Central and Eastern European] region – Austria, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Ukraine”, explained The Banker in its December issue why RBI was selected as winner for the region, adding improved overall capitalization and efficiency, reduced complexity, sharpened focus on Central and Eastern Europe, higher profitability, falling risk costs and a number of technological firsts as further reasons.
