
Single Euro Payments Area: SEPA
The SEPA is the unique area where consumers, business entities and public authorities can make and receive payments in the euro, according to equal basic conditions, rights and obligations.
The SEPA includes 38 countries: all EU members and the United Kingdom, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Monaco, San Marino, Andorra, Vatican, Montenegro and Albania.

SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT)
National or cross-border payment service initiated by the payer towards their payment service provider (bank) for the purpose of crediting the payee’s account.

Batch Booking
SEPA credit transfer (SCT) where the payer indicates the method of debiting their account:
- in the total amount, and crediting of the ''n'' payee’s account in individual amounts, or
- debiting the payer’s account in every individual amount for which the payee’s accounts are credited.

SEPA Direct Debit (SDD)
National or cross-border payment service in the euro to debit the payer’s account in favour of the payee, where the payment transaction is placed by the payee based on the payer’s mandate in accordance with the SDD Core or B2B scheme.

SEPA Instant Credit Transfer
This is a credit transfer, or a payment (up to a set limit) initiated by the payer and executed within a short period (nearly in real time) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year (24/7/365).

Reporting messages (notifications and bank statements)
Various XML messages that a payment service provider (PSP) delivers to a payment service user (PSU), e.g.
- Bank to Customer Statement - camt.053
- Bank to Customer Account Report - camt.052
- Payment Order Status Report - pain.002
